Big Plaice in numbers…..

Russell salmon (above) from Somerset landed his first ever ray which was a 15ib 5oz Undulate. Russell caught the ray while fishing aboard Flamer IV which was anchored on a reef south of Portland bill. The successful bait was a strip of ammo squid. The ray was released alive.


David Hawker (above) landed a 6ib 12oz plaice while drift fishing. David was using 8lb class tackle with a two hook flatty trace with lots of coloured attractor beads on and a small silver blade with the successful bait being ragworm and a strip of ammo squid.
Geoff Everett (above) was on a Daffodil SAC trip when he landed a new club record plaice weighing 6ib 8oz. Geoff was using 10;b class tackle and the successful bait was ragworm with ammo black lugworm and squid strip.


Swanson Bishop (above) for the third time in as many trips aboard broke his personal best plaice. This time he caught a monster plaice weighing 7lb 2oz. Swanson was using 8lb class tackle with a two hook flatty trace that had lots of coloured attractor beads on. The successful bait was ragworm, ammo black lugworm and squid strip.


Jamie Watts (above) landed two personal best plaice during the same trip aboard Flamer IV. First Jamie caught a 5lb 2oz plaice a new Pb then beat that with a 7 pounder setting his Pb even higher. Jamie was using a two hook flatty trace with lots of coloured attractor beads on and the successful bait was a cocktail of ragworm, prawn and ammo black lugworm and squid strip.


Derek inwood (above) from Somerset landed a 22lb ling while drifting a wreck aboard Flamer IV. Derek was using 20lb class tackle and the successful bait was two whole ammo calamari squid mounted on a pennel rig. Derek’s ling was just part of a catch of cod, pollack and more ling caught during a late summer wrecking trip.


Finally 71 year old Malcolm Glyn (above) landed plaice weighing 5lb 2oz and 6lb 13oz beating his personal best twice during the same trip aboard Flamer IV. Malcolm was using 10lb class tackle with a one hook trace that had lots of green and black attractor beads on. The successful bait was ragworm and ammo black lugworm and squid strip cocktail. Malcolm is pictured with his 6lb 13oz Pb plaice.
