Big Weymouth Plaice

Weymouth boats are getting amongst the big plaice……

Bob Grady (above) from Essex landed a personal best fish weighing 5Ib 2oz while drift fishing aboard Flamer IV. Bob was using an uptide rod with a flatty trace baited with king ragworm and squid strip.

Patrick Megan (above) from Plymouth Devon landed several Plaice including his personal best weighing 6Ib 2oz while also fishing on the drift. Patrick was over the moon with his catch and was using 10Ib class tackle with a flatty trace that had lots of attractor beads on and the successful bait was ragworm and Ammo squid strip.

John Billett (above) from Frome Somerset joined the action with a 5Ib 9oz fish. John was using 10Ib class tackle and the successful bait was ragworm and squid strip. The fish is John’s personal best.

Finally John Patten (above) from Barnstable, Devon broke his personal best for a second time aboard Flamer IV. John caught a 4Ib 10oz Plaice in May and recently upped this with a 5Ib 8oz fish. John’s next target is a six pounder. John was using 8Ib class tackle and the successful bait was ragworm and squid strip presented on a size 2/0 Sakuma hook.
