Saltwater catches and tackle updates

Weymouth Variety….In the right Plaice for a Brill Blonde Ray….

Weymouth update from Flamer IV….Colin Jones(above) from Cheltenham landed two big plaice whilst drift fishing. The plaice weighed 5Ib and 5Ib 10oz.Colin was using 10Ib class tackle with the successful bait being ragworm, Ammo black lugworm and squid strip.


John Collings (above) on only his second ever boat fishing trip landed a blonde ray weighing 26Ib while fishing at anchor. John was using 30Ib class tackle with Ammo squid and mackerel cocktail mounted on a pennel rig. The ray was weighed, photographed and returned alive.


 


 

 Mac Mckie (above) also landed two specimen plaice and two personal bests aboard. The two plaice weighed 5Ib 8oz and 5Ib 12oz. Mac was using 8Ib class tackle and the successful bait was Ammo black lugworm, ragworm and squid strip presented on a short trace and 2/0 hook.

 


Still on the plaice Dave Beales (above) landed a 6Ib plaice while drift fishing on a WSF club trip. Dave was using 10Ib clas tackle with a two hook trace baited with Ammo black lugworm, ragworm and squid strip.


Ellis Jones (above) landed his personal best Brill weighing 8Ib while drifting. Ellis was using 10 class tackle and the successful bait a strip of Ammo mackerel was presented on a flowing trace and 4/0 hook


Finally Rich Hawkins from Dorset landed five blonde rays including a 22 pound fish. Rick was using 20Ib class tackle and the successful bait was squid and mackerel cocktail mounted on a pennel rig.
