Flamer tries drifting some wrecks but still has time to land some specimen plaice among the cod.
First some of the cod………
Russell Salmon (above) landed a personal best cod weighing 17ib 3oz whilst fishing on the drift. Russell was using 20ib class tackle and the successful lure was blue shad.
He was followed by Dan Gomm (above) a member of the Maple Cross Deep Sea Anglers. Dan landed his personal best cod weighing 22lb 8oz while also drifting a wreck. Dan was using 15lb class tackle with a flying collar rig and a rhubarb and custard sidewinder lure. The fish was just one from an impressive tally.
Paul Milkins (above) from Sutton,Surrey landed several good size cod to 19lb 12ozs. Again the successful method was a flying collar rig and a rhubarb and custard sidewinder.
Steve Botham (below) travelled overnight from Nottinghamshire to Weymouth to get a day’s wreck fishing. His efforts were rewarded with a 22lb cod which was caught in 215 feet of water on 15lb class tackle with a flying collar rig and for a change a blue sidewinder lure.
Back on the Plaice Mark Cooper (below) landed a personal best plaice weighing 6ib 2oz while drift fishing. Mark was using 8ib class tackle with a two hook flatty trace with lots of attractor beads on.The successful bait was ragworm and ammo black lug and squid strips.
Finally in this update Geoff Beviss landed a personal best plaice on his first ever trip aboard Flamer IV.A very pleased Geoff was using 10lb class tackle and the successful bait was ragworm and ammo blacklug and squid strip.
