I fancied a change from the carp fishing so bream became my quarry. Now I know that the mention of bream to most carp anglers would create a shudder but on the correct gear i.e. light tactics and bagging up can be great fun. So out came my 12 ft feeder rod with a stiff quiver attached. You could also use a lighter carp rod around 2lb tc and an alarm system if you prefer, this would also be a better way if you were fishing at night. A running swim feeder, a good ground bait mix and Berkley gulp pineapple 12mm boilie hair rigged on a size 10 2mbt JRC Hook. With all that all I can say is game on !

My fishing spot was a large raised gravel bar in 8 ft of water (dropping to 12 ft either side of this) at a 40 yard range was the spot. I built up a good bed of bait over this area and then left this overnight. Starting fishing the very next morning action started from the off. At the end of the session I could tell that I had caught a few when I noticed that the landing net was standing up on its own with the amount of slime in it – yuk ! over 80lb of bream, great fun, give it a go !
