Paul Garner ended the year in fine style with this prettily marked pike weighing just over 20lb from Oxfordshire’s Farmoor Reservoir. The fish fell for a Berkley Ripple-shad fished over deep water.
Paul has enjoyed considerable success on the trout reservoirs this autumn and puts his results down to fishing with lures and staying mobile.
“I know a lot of anglers lack confidence in fishing with lures, but the secret is to stick with it. Because you can cover so much water with lures you will cross-paths with a lot more fish than by fishing static with baits and often this can be the key to success when location is everything.”
