In this Blog I would like to cover Carp safety when weighing and photographing fish. Firstly, always have your unhooking mat out ready (that means undone and laid out on the floor). I have seen so many times, people catching a fish, leave the fish in the net unsecured, turn round and only then start getting their unhooking mat out. I have seen fish power off into the lake in the net in this situation. I always put a bank stick in the ground just in case I have to do this, ...

After fishing the Carp Society’s Horseshoe Lake (65acres) and Watermarks Bradleys (165 acres) for some time, I have found that long range fishing has helped me catch when others have been blanking. Being able to cast long distances has enabled me to get amongst the fish when other anglers just cannot reach them due to their casting abilities. Here are a few pointers that will help you gain distance with your casting, which when taught on my tutorials always adds at lea...

As September creeps onwards and the nights really do start to show us that they are definitely getting shorter the lakes that we fish start to take on their late summer, early autumn look, I really do enjoy to fish for carp. This is the start of a season for me that is synonymous with carp angling. Autumn was THE time to be out on the banks hoping to catch that elusive big fish full of energy from a summers hard feeding and ready to take on the winter months ahead. These days...

Thursday morning dawned brightly, after the rain finally subsided; but the wind had swung round and was blowing right to left now; and the bites had dropped off markedly, as fish were following the wind down to the higher peg numbers in our section off to the left. Great action captured on video.......... We only picked up 2 bites that day, resulting in one fish of 6.3kg to Rob in the night, having dropped the other bite in the heavy weed that was now balling up in ...

I’ve just received my order of squid liver, so decided to go do a quick over nighter after work at a local club lake. I arrive at the lake at about 10:30pm was pretty dark by then, so didn't have the change to walk around and find the fish, so ended up fishing a swim that I know normally fish's well. Anyways got the house set up, and the rods set up. Cast one of my rods in the direction of a fish that was jumping when I was setting up, about 50yds to my left, with a pva ba...
