Last month I received a phone call from a fishing mate of mine from up North inviting me to join him on a carping trip to “Utopia” situated in the Compiegne region of France approx. 2 ½ hrs. Drive from Calais, It’s a mature 10 acre Lake, with 8 purpose made swims. The lake has depths ranging from 3 metres deepest part in winter to 70cm shallowest part in summer with silt pockets, gravel bars, plateaus, and overhanging trees in the margins, and plenty of weed beds, lovely.

After fishing the Carp Society’s Horseshoe Lake (65acres) and Watermarks Bradleys (165 acres) for some time, I have found that long range fishing has helped me catch when others have been blanking.
Being able to cast long distances has enabled me to get amongst the fish when other anglers just cannot reach them due to their casting abilities. Here are a few pointers that will help you gain distance with your casting, which when taught on my tutorials always adds at lea...

Autumn, a time for the big girls.

As September creeps onwards and the nights really do start to show us that they are definitely getting shorter the lakes that we fish start to take on their late summer, early autumn look, I really do enjoy to fish for carp. This is the start of a season for me that is synonymous with carp angling. Autumn was THE time to be out on the banks hoping to catch that elusive big fish full of energy from a summers hard feeding and ready to take on the winter months ahead. These days...

My first order of Squid+Liver has arrived yippee 17 kilos of carp food goodiness, the car is loaded all I need is clearance from the ball and chain, "Yes" she said to my surprise, 30secs later my car is heading for the lake.

Thursday morning dawned brightly, after the rain finally subsided; but the wind had swung round and was blowing right to left now; and the bites had dropped off markedly, as fish were following the wind down to the higher peg numbers in our section off to the left.
Great action captured on video..........
We only picked up 2 bites that day, resulting in one fish of 6.3kg to Rob in the night, having dropped the other bite in the heavy weed that was now balling up in ...

I’ve just received my order of squid liver, so decided to go do a quick over nighter after work at a local club lake. I arrive at the lake at about 10:30pm was pretty dark by then, so didn't have the change to walk around and find the fish, so ended up fishing a swim that I know normally fish's well.
Anyways got the house set up, and the rods set up. Cast one of my rods in the direction of a fish that was jumping when I was setting up, about 50yds to my left, with a pva ba...

First time success with GULP! Tiger nuts
It was 7:00 am on the 31st of august and the weather wasn’t sure what to do as the early sun opened up the world of my local water. It was good to be out on the bank after a few weeks of hectic work and it was even better to be doing my first session as a member of the GULP! Carp army. First thing first was to walk around the lake and try to find the carp, with little signs of carp any where this was proving to be a hard task. After...

I have been fishing for over 20 of my 27 years, 10 years of which has been dedicated to carp fishing...my second greatest love! Obviously the love of my life is my wife and family (If I don’t say that my days of fishing will be numbered). I have 4 children, 3 girls and a boy as well as my pet pooch Milo. Although all of them have accompanied me at some point on my fishing trips and to some extent have caught
the bug for it, it is Milo who is my faithful companion and hot...

Last week was the first time I fished my new swim, when I woke up the following morning without a bleep I could see that the fish had either been in the swim feeding or at least nearby as the eel grass at the back of the swim was all floating, Now I'm not 100% on this but I just had a feeling that something had happened.
The bait up continued every other day with around 1-2 kilos of boilies on the spots, I'd noticed half way through the week that the close...
